Gluten-Free Italian Sausage, Cheddar, and Bacon Stuffed Anaheim Poppers
For those looking for less of a "kick" than jalapeno poppers, Anaheim poppers offer a tasty alternative . These poppers are tender with an adequate bite, and so savory and satisfying. In addition, these baked Anaheim poppers are gluten-free and perfect for serving as finger food at get togethers.
Let's make some gluten-free Anaheim poppers!
INGREDIENTS:
- 12 Anaheim Peppers (5 to 6 inches)
- 1 lb. Sweet Italian Sausage (make sure gluten free)
- 16 oz. Philadelphia Cream Cheese Spread
- 8 oz. Chive and Onion Philadelphia Cream Cheese Spread
- 2 cups Triple Cheddar Cheese, shredded
- 1 cup bacon bits
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Cut the top off the pepper. Slice in half, seed pepper, and rinse thoroughly.
- In a medium frying pan, brown the Italian Sausage. Set aside.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the shredded cheese and both cream cheeses.
- Add a layer of Italian Sausage to each pepper.
- Take a butter knife or spoon and liberally add cheese mixture to inside of pepper. Place on a cookie sheet.
- Liberally sprinkle top of cheese mixture with bacon bits. Cook about 15 to 20 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
